The Theme

The year 1971 was pivotal in the young history of Independent India, showcasing our unwavering commitment to compassion and courage. India opened its heart and resources to nearly 10 million Bengali refugees fleeing the atrocities in East Pakistan. That same year, India successfully repelled another invasion from the west, leading to the complete and unconditional surrender of the Pakistani armed forces. Indian soldiers emerged as beacons of hope, embodying bravery and compassion, and putting an end to the unspeakable atrocities inflicted upon the Bengali people by the Pakistani army. 1971 also witnessed the birth of a new free nation: Bangladesh.
